How to Burn additional files to a DVD-RW

Run K3b

Insert DVD which should already have files/subdirectories on it. Ignore the Konqueror window which appears. Actually you can close it.

In K3b, click on "Sony DVD RW" (or whatever your DVD writer is called) From the bottom half of the window, click on Further actions... From the menu which appears, select Continue Multisession Project

Select what is offered (K3b data project...) or whatever appears in the pop-up window

Wait... it may take a while (It says Session Import - K3b), after all, it is a DVD and holds over 4 Gb of data.

Then, K3b should morph into two windows, one on top of the other, each with its own file/directory list.

Now, you can pull the files/directories you wish to copy to the DVD from the top window to the file list in the bottom file window

Once you have all the directories (don't forget lmail if you are backing up and whatever other hidden files you need)

Select the Burn button from the upper left-hand corner of the lower window

And about the only other thing you will need to select if you wish is to Check after Write or whatever it is and click on Burn. Then

Wait... till the burn finishes.

The first time i did this the program did not finish cleanly and the hard disk appeared to “run” forever but it worked! and finally had to do a hard reboot, but the disk was written to correctly! and the Error Log did not report any errors! Yippee!
