Browsing the Control Center

The Control Centre is where you can modify all sorts of system related options. Click on the launch menu, Image:launch button-tekn0n.png

then Settings, then Control Center.

The KDE Control Center Menus

File Menu

The File menu has a single entry. File->Quit (Ctrl+Q) - Closes the control center.

View Menu

These options determine how the module selection looks and behaves.

View->Mode Determines whether to use Tree view, or Icon view for your modules.

  • With Tree view, each submenu appears as an indented list.
  • With Icon view, when you click on a category, the categories disappear and are replaced with the module list. You then use the Back button to return to the categories.

View->Icon size Using this option, you can choose Small, Medium, or Large icons to select your modules.

Settings Menu

The Settings menu has a single entry, Settings->Configure Shortcuts.... From here you can map keyboard shortcuts to the other menu options

Help Menu

  • Help->This application Handbook (F1)

Invokes the KDE Help system starting at the this application help pages.

  • Help->What's This? (Shift+F1)

Changes the mouse cursor to a combination arrow and question mark. Clicking on items within this application will open a help window (if one exists for the particular item) explaining the item's function.

  • Help->Report Bug...

Opens the Bug report dialog where you can report a bug or request a “wishlist” feature.

  • Help->About this application

This will display version and author information.

  • Help->About KDE

This displays the KDE version and other basic information.
