Changes made to Firefox and Thunderbird in Freespire

From Freespire

The default browser in Freespire is based on Mozilla's Firefox web browser. Freespire's email client is based on Mozilla's Thunderbird client. The Freespire versions of Firefox and Thunderbird contain hundreds of changes. Below you will find a list of some of the more significant changes made to these two programs.

Changes made to Firefox

• Synchronization with the mimetypes settings in KDE so documents, file types, multimedia files, etc. all just load and work properly when web browsing.
• In-line spell checking to correct spelling and offer correct-spelling suggestions when typing in forums, web mail, wikis, etc. Misspelled words are underlined in red. Right click on underlined word for correct-spelling suggestions.
• HotWords - allows one-click searches on words on any Web page or email message.
• QLookup to allow for quick web page translation to other languages (righ mouse click on web page).
• Enhanced Download Manager UI and preference changes.
• Enhanced Font defaults.
• New Theme to match rest of Freespire (Inspired).
• New Tab | Home buttons on Personal Toolbar by default.
• Opening a new tab defaults to your home page, or a customizable page.
• Remove Mail Toolbar Button in Browser.
• Several changes to default preferences for ease of use.
• New set of default bookmarks.
• Include logical sites to list of default lists ("don't block popups", "allow to install software", "allow cookies").
• Disable Software Update (except extensions). This is handled through CNR.
• Change User Profile Location.
• Modified User Agent String.
• Turn off Check default browser/mail dialog.
• Special handling for mailto: links.
• Browser opened maximized by default.

Changes made to Thunderbird

• In-line spell checker when composing an email.
• HotWords - allows one-click searches on words on any Web page or email message.
• Added feature to send message from another email account other then your own (Proxy), all replies to the message will go to the proxy email address.
• Integrated Mailminder service allows you to trigger automatic alerts to individual e-mail messages at a later time.
• Send Mode (Now or Later)feature.
• Switch from MySpell to ASpell as default spellchecking engine.
• Default settings in new Account Wizard.
• Replace the term "Junk" to "Spam".
• Send Later timer + prompt sending at shutdown.
• Change Mail Start Page.
• Integrate VNC protocol.
• Change compose button label from 'Write' to 'New Message'.
• Reorder columns in message Thread View.
• Enter in address field in compose should go from To to Cc.
• Add Copy Sender checkbox in Compose mail.
