Community Leadership

Every organization or community needs strong and active leadership to function effectively. Freespire's leadership is organized into three boards:

  1. The Leadership Board
  2. The Community Board
  3. The Technology Board

Each board has one Chairperson and can have many participants on the board.

Below is an general overview of each board. In the coming weeks, as the Freespire community starts to evolve, look for more specific information about the nature and organization of these boards, such as:

  • the nomination process
  • terms of service of board members
  • number of members
  • public blog information for each board

In the meantime, if you'd like to nominate someone to serve on any of these boards, please email communityboards@freespire.org.

Leadership Board

Freespire's Leadership Board is composed of thinkers, business people, evangelists, and key members of the Linux community. This group helps direct the vision and goals of the Freespire project and oversees the other two boards. Think of this board as Freespire's conscious and ethical compass, whose mandate is making sure Freespire remains true to its vision and objectives. To keep all ideas flowing into the Freespire project, membership on the Leadership Board is, by design, not confined to only those who use the Freespire operating system.

Community Board

Freespire's Community Board helps coordinate and direct the efforts of the community in non-technical matters. For example, this group will be involved in the community forum, support, education, evangelism, documentation, wiki development, and so on. Input from this board will be critical in providing recommendations to the Leadership Board in relationship to the overall direction of the Freespire project.

Technology Board

Freespire's Technology Board helps coordinate and direct the efforts of the community in all technical matters, such as the operating system development, recommendations for technology and package adoption, as well as development tools, protocols and methods.
