Dr Hu. is an active member of the Freespire community. Using his extensive knowledge of linux, he has helped out numerous people on the forum. Whether the problem is simple or difficult he patiently helps out and encourages the new user as well as challenges the experienced user to learn more. He always argues well in discussion's and provides great links to further the general debate or back his point of view. His constant presence adds a great deal to the community.

The Freespire Forum Hero of the Month for July 2007 is georgetoon

Mark, better known on the Freespire forums as georgetoon, is a syndicated cartoonist with DBR Media, Inc. However, he is also a staunch user and supporter of Freespire/Linspire and Linux in general. georgetoon stated, "I can honestly say that Linspire/Freespire/Linux have simply transformed my life and cartooning. It's done so by taking my understanding of computers and technology to the next level. It's also given me a new set of tools to use and work with... I absolutely love the process and adventure of growing with Linspire/Freespire/Linux" And what a set of tools he has to continue his adventure -- Linspire, Gimp, Scribus, Xsane as well as other, which are all used in creating his comic features. georgetoon is aways learning new and better ways to use linux at home and at work. But he is not only one who learns, but also one who share what he has learned with others not only on the forum, but where ever he can. The picture he provided was taken at a recent Cartoonists Day and Free Comic Book Day, where georgetoon not only did a cartoon signing but also took the time to hand out freespire disks pointing out to aspiring cartoonists, parents, teachers, etc. that "these tools are free, powerful feature rich, and can get [them] up and running in no time".

The Freespire Forum Hero of the Month for June 2007 is ceti

Ceti is one of the Freespire community members working proactively, behind the scene. Though ceti has not been on of the most proligic posters on the forum he has been very busy on the wiki translating the Freespire User Manual into Portugese. He has also been working with the IRMA crew translating the installer strings (supporting both Freespire and Linspire). His work on the wiki and with the IRMA crew has been greatly appreciated. We hope to see more of ceti's translating work as he moves to projects like Lsongs.

The Freespire Forum Hero of the Month for May 2007 is ranti.

ranti. may not have the most posts or be able to program in 7 different languages. But from day one of Freespire's announcement at the Desktop Linux Summit in 2006, ranti. has been a champion for the cause and for the community. With a gentle spirit and a kind disposition ranti. has helped numerous users with essential basics, has participated in making sure the flow of crucial aspects of the WIKI are correct, and has even participated in gentle corrections of how things could be better phrased.

Her suggestions are well thought out, and the help she gives is never lacking in kindness and efficiency. ranti.'s kind disposition and willingness to help defines community. In many ways, she is one of our moral compasses. If she is disappointed in something or enthusiastic on some matter, it is usually indicative of the quality of a direction we are heading in as a community.

It is where you get to recognize, and be recognized for contributing to the Freespire Community. You let us know about something someone in the community has been doing such as helping new members, reporting and fixing bugs, adding to the wiki, resolving problems on the forums, etc. We will also be keeping our eyes out for those everyday heroes as well. Each month we will reward someone with the Freespire Forum Hero of the Month Award. That person will be placed in a special area of the Freespire WIKI recognizing their contributions to the community and be awarded a one month membership to the CNR Gold program. If you are a CNR Gold Member, your renewal date will be extended a month. If you are not a CNR Gold member, it will be a prime opportunity to see the difference between basic and gold and maybe even take advantage of some of the discounts CNR Gold members receive on quality commercial software.
