Contribute to the Freespire Project

Contributions are the lifeblood of any community - without them a community cannot grow and thrive. There are almost limitless ways in which you can contribute to the Freespire project. In addition to the other areas in the Wiki, please review the following list and see if something interests you.

How You Can Get Involved

There are two broad areas you can get involved, depending on your skill set:

  • Community Work
  • Developer Work

Each of these is discussed in detail below.

Community Work

Community Work is designed for those that want to contribute, but might not have coding skills (Visit Developer Work if you're truly interested in contributing to development that supports Freespire).

Help other Community Members

Help with Freespire Documentation

Help Test Freespire

Help Translate Freespire

Help with Freespire Graphics and Artwork

Donate money for the Freespire Project

Other ways to Help

  • Make suggestions for future versions (organized, documented - white papers)
  • Evangelizing - Get the word out about Freespire
    • Man a booth at a Convention

Developer Work

Help with Baseline Development (Ubuntu, KDE, Applications, etc.)

The goal is to get packages/patches submitted as far upstream as possible, so start at the beginning (Debian & ubuntu, KDE, etc.), so that patches don't need to be applied in the downstream distribution.

Help with Freespire Development

IMPORTANT! The very best way to submit patches, code, bugs, etc. is via Bugzilla. Please read the Bugzilla information page to become familiar with this very important part of Freespire development. The more complete the information is which you provide via your Bugzilla report, the higher likelihood that it will be included in Freespire.
