I cannot find new topic tab to create a new topic. so I can only issue my Q here.
I found this free stuff in ebay and got a copy from there, I used to work on windows, but the AD express this is linux XP, I like to try, so I am newbie here, I installed this OS on my new HD, no problem to connect to internet and saw my windows network, and can access my windows server's files, but where can I set the environment parameter so I can test to run application under windows network? or Freespire just cannot be a windows workstation?
someone can help for fast solve this Q. Thx In the mean time I will find the tutorial for Freespire and start to learn the foundamental there.

Is Freespire....
Is Freespire one of those distros designed to save the user from him or herself? I do like to install things other than what is found on the CNR but I don't mind if the lack of this ability is a net for me. (Yes I know how to install from the terminal as a regular user and root).
The short is no, you are not required to install only with CNR. If you want to use apt your free to do so. However, with the present version of Freespire (which is based on Linspire 5.0) there is a possibility of hosing the system if apt removes a Linspire/Freespire tweeked lib file or replaces it with a newer one because Linspire was based on a snapshot of Debian thus it may use older lib files and Linspire used tweeked files. This will be less of a problem in the up coming Freespire 2.0 and CnR will improve with that release as well.
