   1.  Place layer of correct size.
   2.  Open Gradients window
   3.  Select Gradient type
   4.  From Main Window, Tools, Paint Tools, Blend
   5.  For the text you need to double click on the Text icon located
in the left-hand pane to get the Text Options Window to open.
