Japanese Websites
Visiting Japanese web pages with firefox and other web browsers will display only kana. For example, if you see 日本語 as three boxes with misc. stuff inside rather then the kanji for nihongo (romaji for Japanese language) then you need to install some Japanese Fonts.
To read and see Kanji, install one of these fonts with CNR and restart the web browser:
- ttf-kochi-mincho <--DFSG-free (without naga10)
- ttf-kochi-mincho-naga10 <--Not-free (with naga10)
Optional: via apt sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ttf-kochi-mincho-naga10
For more characters install one of the following:
- ttf-kochi-gothic<--DFSG-free (without naga10)
- ttf-kochi-gothic-naga10<--Not-free (with naga10)
Optional: via apt sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ttf-kochi-gothic-naga10
