Lphoto application layout

  • The layout of the Lphoto has been designed to be as intuitive as possible. For ease of understanding we have visually divided the application in four parts - the Album List, the Info Panel, the Photo Dashboard, the Photo Display Window.

The Album List

  • The Album List is the part of Lphoto which brings you the ability to organize your Photos by Album. You can create new albums, as well as view current albums you have already created. You can also view Photos that have been recently imported.
  • A useful listing in the Album List is the Trash bin. It lets you review your choices and decisions of what should be removed and what should stay in the Photo Library. To throw a photo or album in the trash just drag and drop it over the trash Bin icon. Then you will have the chance to review and decide, which photos you would like removed. In case you want to delete photos fast and easy, just right click and choose Empty Trash from the context menu

The Info Panel

  • Info Panel gives information regarding the photo selection, including Title, Date, Time, Size, Rating, and Comments.

The Photo Dashboard

  • The Photo Dashboard gives essential control over your photos and albums. You have four icons on the far left side which gives you control over Creating New Albums, Starting a Slideshow, Show/Hide Info Display, and Rotating the selected images.

  • The Photo Dashboard also gives you large buttons at the bottom of the dashboard. This gives you control over Print - Printing Photos, Slideshow - Starting a Slideshow, Email - Sending an Email with of selected photos, Create Web Pages - Creating web pages, and Desktop- using the current photo as your desktop background.

  • The Photo Dashboard has tabs which control: Import, Scanner, Organize, and Edit. The Import tab allows you to import photos from a connected camera. The Scanner tab allows you to import photos from a connected scanner. The Organize tab allows you to organize your photos in the Photo Display Window. The Edit tab allows you to edit the selected photo, using Crop, Red Eye, Enhance, Black and White, Revert.

  • Finally, the Photo Dashboard has a Slider to zoom in/out of the photo selected. It lets you zoom in closer to the photo, or out farther to the photo.

The Photo Display Window

  • The Photo Display Window displays your photos from the currently selected Album, Photo Library, Recently Imported Photos, and Trash (as shown in the Album List). Clicking on a button in the Photo Dashboard will use the Photos you have selected in the Photo Display Window.


Organize and Enjoy your Photo collection

  • Under the File menu there are menu items called "Add File to Photo Library"(Ctrl+O), "Add Folder to Photo Library"(Ctrl+Shift+O), and "Add Folder as Albums" (Ctrl+Shift+A) They will give you a chance to choose the location where your photo files are stored


Managing Albums

  • Once you have your Photo collection imported in the Lphoto Library you will be able manage your Photos by creating multiple Albums which are easily accessible from the Album List.
  • To create an Album you can either drag Photos from the Photo Display Window into the Album list on the left side of Lphoto window.

  • Another way to create an Album is to click on the "+" icon on the left side of the Photo Dashboard.

Editing Photos

  • You can edit a photo by clicking the Edit Tab on the Photo Dashboard. It will edit the Photo you have selected in the Photo Display Window

  • Once you have selected to edit a photo, you can use the Large Buttons on the Photo Dashboard to select Previous or Next Photos. You can select in area in the Photo Display window and click on "Crop" to crop the area of the current photo. If you make a mistake, you can click on the "Revert" button to revert the photo back to the original. You can also click on the "Enhance" button. This allows you to enhance the image. If you don't like the way it looks, just click on the "Revert" button. Finally, if you want to make the Photo into a black and white photo, just click on the "B & W" button.

Creating a Slideshow with Lphoto

Creating a slideshow is as easy as:

  • Select an album in the Album List, or select photos in the Photo Library.
  • Click on the "Slideshow" button in the Photo Dashboard.
  • Click on Play Slideshow

Create Web Pages with Lphoto

Creating Web Pages is as easy as:

  • Select an album in the Album List, or select photos in the Photo Library.
  • Click on the "Create Web Pages" button in the Photo Dashboard.
  • Click on the Create button.

    • Note: Your newly created webpage will be automatically loaded, giving you a chance to see what it looks like
    • Lphoto stores your web page in :/home/yourusername/Documents/web pages/Album# (depends on the name of the album you used)

Create Email with Lphoto

Sending Photos to Email is as easy as:

  • Select an album in the Album List, or select photos in the Photo Library.
  • Click on the "Send Email" button in the Photo Dashboard.

  • Lphoto will load up the Email program. In the "To:" Field, type in the email adress of the person you want to send the pictures to. Click on the "Send" Button in the Email program.

Printing Photos with Lphoto

Printing Photos is as easy as:

  • Select an album in the Album List, or select photos in the Photo Library.
  • Click on the "Print" button in the Photo Dashboard.
  • Click on Print

Making a Photo Your Desktop Background

Making a Photo Your Desktop Background is easy, as easy as:

  • Select a Photos in the Photo Library, or in one of your Albums
  • Click on the Desktop button in the Photo Dashboard
