A Screensaver is a great way of showing some cool graphics on your screen when you are not using it. It is also a way of securing your computer should you be away from it for a period of time.
This item looks at setting up your screensaver in Freespire.
The Screensaver is selected from the Freespire Configure Desktop option. The Configure Desktop option can be selected either from your desktop or from the Freespire Control Center. This is a clear desktop
To select the Configure Desktop option from the desktop you need to have a clear patch of desktop to click in ! So to do this, click on the ¨show Desktop" button in the Panel Menu which is located (default position) in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. The button looks like a little PC screen (6th icon in from the Launch button in the above screenshot). This action minimises all currently running applications down onto the task bar at the bottom of the screen. Then right click your mouse button in a clear area of the desktop and from the menu which appears select the ¨Configure Desktop Option¨
This will then display the Configure - Desktop dialogue box which looks like
You will see 9 options as per screenshot:- (You may need to expand the dialogue box by dragging the bottom down to see all options) We will only look at the option which relates to changing the Screensaver which is the fourth item in the list - ¨Screensaver¨. When you select the option further information relating to the option is displayed to the right hand side.
Basically select the scrensaver that catches your fancy from the long list, Test it to make sure that it works and if it requires some setup, click on the Setup button and follow the prompts.
Other Settings allow you to define how long a delay of inactivity there is before the Screensaver takes effect, whether or not you will require a password to clear the screensaver when you return to your computer (the password will be the same as your long on password) and Power Management Awareness.
As mentioned above the Screensaver can also be selected from the Freespire Control Center. Goto the Control Center item in the User Guide, Browsing the Control Center for further information.
