Can you set up Freespire so it will boot with no password prompt?

Yes, you can do one of two things:

1. You can remove the password on the user account from the console with 'passwd -d username' (unfortunately, kuser will not let you do this, which is a bug.)

2. Set LDM to log you in automatically to the desktop, even though you have a password set. Go to Settings -> System Administration -> Login Manager, enable Auto Login and click on the circle next to the user(s) you want to be able to log in with out a password. If only one user is selected, LDM will go directly to the desktop. If more than one user, it will prompt you to select a user, but not ask for a password.

We implemented option 2 specifically for machines that are deemed physically secure, but network accessible. Example: have a password on your account on your home machine, but the desktop logs in automatically, which allows you to ssh in from the outside world, but still have the convenience of a ready desktop when you boot.
