AMD processor

Hi, I'm new to Linux and saw your posting concerning processor. I have an Sempron 3100+ @1.8GHz but Freespire is only recognizing its speed as 1GHz. I am also having trouble loading nvidia drivers. If you can help or point me in the proper direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You
