NOTE: Most of the below information applies to the legacy CNR Client used on Freespire 1 and Linspire 5; for the most current information, be sure to visit www.cnr.com
As of Aug. 30, 2006 Linspire Does Away with Annual Fee for CNR Service. To subscribe to the free CNR service you must create a new account using your e-mail address. Then Sign In and install your favorite Linux products. For more information on obtaining a free membership and Gold subscription benefits go to CNR
CNR speaks for itself. All you have to do is find what you want and need, click to CNR, and then you're ready to run! When in the CNR client there are six default tabs along the top toolbar. These are Using CNR, CNR News, CNR Warehouse (Install Software), My Services, My Products, and History. Familiarize yourself with each as they all enhance your CNR experience. The first in particular, Using CNR, is a great starting point that has images and examples of the following:

Find Software
The products in the warehouse have Descriptions/Comparisons, Screenshots, and User Ratings so you can easily find what you are looking for.
- Click the tab CNR Warehouse (Install Software)
- Use the menu to the left to easily browse products and their categories
- On the top of pages you will also see a search tool you can use to narrow your results
Install Software
Installing software in Linux is painlessly easy with CNR. Some commercial products are available for sell and require the use of a credit card (paypal and other methods may be available in the future).
- When you have found something you like click the green running man icon. This will download and install the product at the same time.
- Shopping: If you are purchasing a commercial product, your item will be added to your shopping cart. When you're ready to make the final transaction click Checkout, enter payment method, verify, and buy. Then you can install.
Uninstall Software
When you need to get rid of a program, uninstalling is very simple.
- Click the tab My Products
- Select the item(s) you want to get rid of
- Hit Uninstall Selected in the toolbar

Software Updates
The Automatic Update Notifier is a feature that is exclusive to CNR Gold members. When an update is available a green arrow icon will appear in the system tray prompting a Gold subscribers attention. Free users will need to check for updates regularly.
- Go to Tools and then Check for Updates
- Agree to install said available update
- Visit your My Products tab
- Select Available Updates
- Highlight any available updates
- Click Install/Update Selected in the toolbar
- Agree to install said available update
- Click the CNR Warehouse (Install Software) tab
- Expand Install software by Aisle to the left
- Click Latest Updates Aisle
- See if one of your products is listed
- Gold Subscriber
- Click the automatic green arrow notifier in the system tray
- Agree to update/upgrade the given product.
History
The History tab in the toolbar holds record of you CNR activity. If you receive an error it will be displayed in here with further details. When their is a problem installing or uninstalling usually a second time's the charm. Though when something is just not working, you may seek support.
