Using the Sandisk Sansa E280 MP3 player
From Freespire
The factory sets up the Sansa to be compatible with Microsoft's Media Transfer Protocol (MTP)
When you plug your Sansa into a Freespire PC the MP3 player will not be recognized.
However, here are two different methods of uploading / downloading files to the Sandisk Sansa.
Method 1
The first method is to install Gnomad2 (V 2.8.10 or higher) using either CNR or Synaptic.
Once installed, start Gnomad2 and your Sansa MP3 should instantly appear.
Method 2
The second method is to change the factory settings of your Sansa MP3 player
Make sure that your Sansa is unplugged from the USB cable.
Click on the on/off button.
Rotate the wheel control until you reach "settings"
Press the button in the middle.
Scroll down with the wheel control until you find "USB Mode", then press the button in the middle.
A new window will appear and you will have a choice between MSC or MTP.
Select "MSC".
Now plug into your PC and the Sansa icon should appear on your Freespire desktop.
If you click on that icon you will be able to see the file structure for your MP3 player.
(Note MSC is a file transfer protocol that works with Windows, Linux and MAC)
This is my preferred option as I find it simpler and more flexible to use then the Gnomad2 set-up.
