Virtual / Multiple Desktops

Virtual / Multiple Desktops allows the organizing of application tasks to multiple desktops and are managed through: 

Launch > Settings > Control Center > Look & Feel > Desktop

Default is set to 4 desktops, but the slider can be used to increase or decrease that amount. To maximize usability Look & Feel > Desktop > Taskbar should be set:

  • Show windows from all desktops - deselected
  • Sort tasks by virtual desktop - selected

Applications can be opened by default (using Advanced > Special Windows Settings) to certain desktops. Alt+Tab can be used to switch between applications on all desktops. Different wallpapers can be set through: 

 Control Center > Look & Feel > Background, then pull-down the Setting for desktop:

Mouse wheel over desktop background switches desktop can be selected to use a scroll wheel mouse to change virtual desktops.

  • Note: Icons will be the same on all desktops.
  • Note: Installation of Xgl will override Multiple Desktops


You can also configure the virtual desktops by right clicking on them and choosing settings.
